How to use the Edge Quadro emulations in your DAW

The Edge Quadro plugin allows you to take full control of the microphone’s four membranes and emulations and can be controlled both in real time and on already recorded tracks. The latter will give you more flexibility when mixing, in comparison to the Control Panel emulations.

Obtaining the iLok code

You will first need to make sure that you have registered your microphone in the User Area of the Antelope Audio website.

Once you have logged into your account, you will see the “Activate new device” button:

Please follow the steps and register your Edge Quadro. After the registration has been completed, go to the “My Software” tab. And you will find the Edge Quadro emulations. Click on “Download DAW effect” to display your iLok activation code (you will need a 2nd or 3rd gen iLok dongle, purchased separately).

Installing the emulations

To install the emulations, open the Antelope Launcher and go to the Plug-ins tab. You will find the Edge Quadro in the list. Install the latest version by putting a checkmark in the box and hitting update:

After the emulations are installed, connect your iLok dongle and open your DAW. You will be prompted to type in the iLok code from the user area of the website. Once you do, you will activate the plugin.

How to use the emulations

To use the emulations, please create two stereo tracks in your DAW, each running an instance of the Quadro plugin, then sidechain the tracks to each other. Each DAW will have its own sidechain options.

The plugin:

In the plugin you will be able to select the mic emulation on the left and the polar pattern on the right.

Each microphone can have a different setting for emulation and polar pattern. With these options you can achieve various stereo micing techniques, such as M/S, X/Y, Blumlein, and even 3D sound.
