How may we help you?

In this article, we’ll walk you through how to get the best audio playback performance on Windows when using an Antelope Audio interface. The following steps are geared toward everyday usage with common applications such as media players, web browsers, and streaming platforms.

To access the settings, open the Windows Sound menu by right-clicking the speaker icon in the bottom-right corner of the taskbar and selecting “Sounds.”
Alternatively, you can navigate to Control Panel → Sound

In the Sound window, go to the Playback tab, right-click your Antelope Audio device, and select “Properties.”

Next, navigate to the Advanced tab.
Here, the key settings are channel count, sample rate, and bit depth.
For best results with general media playback, we recommend setting the Default Format to:
2 channel, 24 bit, 44100 Hz (Studio Quality)

You may choose a higher sample rate if the media and playback application support it.

Note: If you experience issues such as audio interruptions or playback failures—especially when running a DAW and other applications simultaneously—ensure that the sample rate in this tab matches your DAW session’s sample rate.

If problems persist, you can disable and re-enable the device from the Playback tab to refresh the audio driver. This has a similar effect to unplugging and reconnecting the device and can help reset Windows' audio configuration.

Additionally, we recommend disabling Exclusive Mode (uncheck both options under “Exclusive Mode”) to avoid conflicts when multiple applications are using the audio device simultaneously.

In the Supported Formats tab, enable all available audio formats and ensure that all listed sample rates are checked — except for 32.0 kHz, which should remain disabled.

In the Enhancements tab, ensure that all audio enhancements are disabled.
This helps prevent potential processing conflicts or audio quality issues.

Lastly, go to the Recording tab in the Windows Sound menu and ensure that the sample rate and bit depth match those set under the Playback tab.
This is especially important if you're using the interface as an input device as well, as mismatched settings can occasionally cause playback issues.

Following these steps should help ensure a smooth and reliable audio playback experience on Windows when using your Antelope Audio device.
