Antelope Audiodevices are made to lock to your computer VIA USB , so your interfaceand DAW have  synced sample rates , our devices have the SR converteroption witch actually converts your interfaces Sample Rate, no matterif it is clocked or not , to the DAW's session sample rate.
Thisis the reason every time you open your DAW your devices sample ratechanges and your clock source changes to USB.

In order touse your device with an external Word Clock connection (it does notmatter if it is via W.C. , ADAT , TOSLINK or S/Pdif) follow thesesteps:

For Orion Studio/ Orion32+ / Pure2 / Zen Studio:

1. Createyour new session in your preferred DAW.

2. Set upyour session's Sample Rate (the Sample Rate you prefer to work with)

3. Save your session and close your DAW

4. Unplugyour device from the USB cable

5. Connectyour external clock source to your device. It is very important toset THE SAME sample rate as the one in your DAW session.
If youchoose a sample rate different than your session's sample rate thedevice WILL NOT use external clock sync , it will be locked via USBin order to avoid mistakes in the signal – this is because of theSample Rate conversion option.

6. Make surethat your device is communicating properly with your external WordClock.

7. Connectyour device to the computer with the USB cable.

8. Open thesession that you created previously and your device will work withyour external Clock source and will be synced with your DAW

For Orion32:

1. Createyour new session in your preferred DAW.

2. Set upyour session's Sample Rate (the Sample Rate you prefer to work with).

3. Save yoursession and close your DAW.

4. Open upyour Control Panel and set the clock source to your preferredconnection.

5. Unplugyour device from the USB cable.  It is very important to set THE SAMEsample rate as the one in your DAW session.
If you choose asample rate different than your session's sample rate the device WILLNOT use external clock sync , it will be locked via USB in order toavoid mistakes in the signal – this is because of the Sample Rateconversion option.

6. Make surethat your device is communicating properly with your external WordClock.

7. Connectyour device to the computer with the USB cable.

8. Open thesession that you created previously and your device will work withyour external Clock source and will be synced with your DAW.

Note that in theOrion32 Control Panel it will state in the clock source USB lock ,nonetheless the Orion32 will still be communicating with the externalWord Clock , if you check your interfaces front panel you will seethat the “lock” light active. If your device isn't communicatingwith the external clock sync the “lock” light will be flashing.

Reminder:

Have in mind thatyour DAW remembers the last Sample Rate you have used , meaning thatif you have made your session with the Sample Rate that matches yourW.C.'s Sample Rate , but after that you have opened a session that iswith a different Sample Rate , when you connect your interface andopen up your session the DAW will send information to the device withthe last used Sample Rate and of it does not match the devices itwill lock via USB and then switch the DAW and the device to thecurrent sessions Sample Rate. In this case just open up and close thesession, perform the clocking steps again and when you open your DAWit will “remember” the last sessions Sample Rate and if it is thesame as the devices it will stay synced with your external clockingsource.
